Docent lecture of PhD Krista Kuuliala
Biography of PhD Krista Kuuliala:
Krista did her MSc and PhD work at the University of Helsinki, majoring in biochemistry. The title of her thesis was “Innate immunity and its control in the pathogenesis of inflammatory rheumatic diseases”. Since 2010 she has been working at the Department of Bacteriology and Immunology as a post doc researcher. She concentrates on translational research in systemic inflammatory conditions, foremost rheumatoid arthritis and acute pancreatitis.
Krista is a member of a collaborative network consisting of rheumatologists, gastroenterologists and research staff at the Helsinki University Hospital and University of Helsinki in Meilahti and also, in projects on rheumatological immunology, at the Universities of Tampere and Turku. Currently, the main foci of her research are elucidating the pathogenetic mechanisms and finding potential predictive and treatment response biomarkers in systemic inflammatory diseases.
