Tammaro’s lab’s research interests lie in understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate
the function of vascular ion channels and in identifying new ion channel
targets and specific compounds with the goal of modulating blood vessel
function for therapeutic benefit. His most recent work focuses on the role of
chloride transport mechanisms in the control of the function of pericytes
(contractile cells that surround capillaries) in regulation of cerebral blood flow after ischemia. The results
suggest that this channel constitutes a key contractile mechanism in cerebral
pericytes, where it may constitute a new drug target for disease of altered
microvascular blood flow such as stroke and vascular dementia.

Biostatistics drop-in workshop
The next workshop is on Wednesday 15th February, at 13:00-15:00 in Biomedicum 2B, in the Olohuone on floor 6. Come whenever you can. Note that you may end up waiting a while for your turn, especially early on in the session. We aim to spend no more than 15 minutes with each customer.
