Ruth Paris, Ph.D., LICSW, IMH-E ® is an Associate Professor at Boston University School of Social Work and the Associate Director for Research at the BU Institute for Early Childhood Well-Being. Her program of research focuses on attachment-based interventions for vulnerable families with young children. With support from SAMHSA, DOD, NIH, HRSA and private foundations, she has developed and evaluated multiple interventions implemented in a variety of community settings focused on families with young children experiencing high adversity, including those with substance use and mental health challenges, recent immigrants, and military service members. Dr. Paris’ current and recently completed work includes leading research and evaluation of interventions targeting parents with young children affected by trauma including substance misuse and immigration. Additionally, Dr. Paris teaches courses on infant and early childhood mental health, family therapy, and clinical research methods. She is a graduate of Smith College (MSW) and the University of California, Berkeley (PhD). Dr. Paris maintains an independent clinical practice in Greater Boston working with individuals, couples, and families.
