Special Seminar: Alexey Amunts

Structural studies of mitochondrial translation
Alexey Amunts is an Associate Professor from Stockholm university where his group investigates the fundamental question of how proteins are synthesized, folded and assembled into functional multicomponent bioenergetic complexes that drive the cellular energy production. Alexey did his PhD in 2011 with Nathan Nelson from Tel Aviv University on X-ray crystal structure of a plant Photosystem I. After this he moved to UK to do his postdoc with Venki Ramakrishnan from MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology Cambridge on mitochondrial translation. From 2016, Alexey has been a SciLifeLab fellow and a group leader at Stockholm University.

More about Alexey’s research can be found from: https://www.scilifelab.se/researchers/alexey-amunts/
Alexey is visiting Helsinki until Jan 18th and if you’d like to meet him (in person or via zoom), please contact Essi Havula: essi.havula@helsinki.fi to arrange a meeting.
