Coastal flood risks in a warmer globe - An Afternoon in The Science Basement
Description: Global sea level rise and more frequent extreme sea levels pose a severe hazard to coastal communities. This talk introduces the reasons behind the observed changes in the sea levels and illustrates the factors governing sea level variability both at global and local scale at the Finnish coast (Baltic Sea). U. Leijala will explain how future flood risks are evaluated and gives practical examples of use of the research outcomes for coastal safety and adaptation.
