Saara Ollila did her PhD in University of Helsinki, studying variants of unknown significance in Lynch Syndrome in the laboratory of professor Minna Nyström. She was trained as a postdoctoral researcher in Tomi Mäkelä’s lab in UH in Timothy Wang lab in Columbia University Medical Center, studying the role of stromal cells in regulating gastrointestinal tumorigenesis. Currently, she is an Academy Research Fellow and group leader at Translational Cancer Medicine research program at UH. Her group studies the role of mesenchymal cells in regulating gastrointestinal homeostasis, regeneration and tumorigenesis.
