HiLIFE Webinar: Jette Lengefeld
Cell size is a determinant of stem cell potential during aging
Jette Lengefeld is a group leader at the Institute of Biotechnology at the University of Helsinki since 2021 and an Assistant Professor at the Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) starting in 2022. Jette obtained her PhD from the ETH Zurich (Switzerland), where she discovered a novel mechanism of asymmetric cell division in the lab of Yves Barral. Supported by the SNF, the Jane Coffin Childs Fund and HHMI, Jette performed her postdoctoral studies at MIT in the lab of Angelika Amon, where she discovered cell size as novel aging factor of blood stem cells. Her research team in Helsinki is investigating how blood stem cell fail to maintain their functions during ageing and disease.
