The Sirtuin Longevity Hypothesis: A Perfect Storm that Allowed Clearly Wrong Ideas to Persist in the Literature

Led by Prof. Charles Brenner, Faculty of Medicine, HiLIFE, Univeristy of Helsinki

For two decades, sirtuins, a family of enzymes that help our cells respond to their energy levels, have been promoted as genes that slow ageing, even as the research contradicting that idea kept piling up. The article we’ll discuss goes through that evidence and argues that the field may have had it wrong all along. Join the discussion for a rare chance to put your questions to the author himself.

The discussion will be informal. There are no stupid questions, so feel free to share whatever’s on your mind. If you’d rather just listen, that’s perfectly fine too! Coffee and snacks will be served to give a little sugar boost and keep the ideas flowing.
