Beyond a Single Pathology:  Neuropathology Insights into Risk and Resilience from ROSMAP

Professor Julie Schneider from the Rush University, USA will give a talk in the HiLIFE seminar series on Thursday September 3rd at 12.15-13.00. Julie will give his talk in the Hall 1, Biomedicum 1, Haartmaninkatu 8. Coffee and pulla will be served to the participants in front of the lecture hall 30 minutes before the seminar begins.

Dr Julie A. Schneider is The Deborah R. And Edgar D. Jannotta Presidential Professor of Pathology and Neurological Sciences, the Director at the NIA funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) at Rush. She completed her Neurology residency at the University of Chicago and Neuropathology fellowship at Emory University. Dr. Schneider is certified in Geriatric Neurology and has a master’s in clinical research. She reviews for over 20 journals; sits on 3 editorial boards, has over 600 peer-reviewed publications and 6 book chapters. She was an invited member of the National Advisory Council on Aging (NIA). She has served on numerous academic and industry advisory boards; gives national and international lectures, and mentors scientists and clinicians. Dr. Schneider’s research explores age-related cognitive decline and neuropathology, with a focus on Limbic-predominant Age-related TDP-43 Encephalopathy, Hippocampal Sclerosis of Aging, and Vascular Contributions to Alzheimer’s Disease, mixed, and other dementias. She leverages her expertise in neuropathology, neurology, and epidemiology to advance discovery of basic mechanisms, risk factors, biomarkers, and prevention/treatment for Alzheimer’s and other related dementias.
