HiLIFE / Biomedicum Helsinki seminar by Professor Krister Wennerberg
Exploring and targeting cancer drug resistance using primary cancer cell models
Professor Krister Wennerberg from the Biotech Research & Innovation Centre (BRIC), University of Copenhagen, Denmark will give a talk in the HiLIFE seminar series on November 9th at 15.00-16.00.
Krister Wennerberg is a Professor and group leader at the Biotech Research & Innovation Centre (BRIC), University of Copenhagen. His group works to discover precision cancer therapies based on the understanding what cells that survive current treatments and drive relapse. To understand how individual cancers respond to and resist drugs, the lab runs functional studies on cancer cell cultures and examines how distinct subpopulations react to different treatments. This work relies on high-throughput screening approaches, using laboratory automation, and chemical and genetic screening methodologies.
His group’s research centers on acute myeloid leukemia, brain cancers, and high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma, with patient-derived ovarian cancer organoids as a key experimental model. Before Copenhagen, he was a Group Leader at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland, University of Helsinki 2010-2017.
Welcome to this exciting seminar!
